Mediations are attempts to resolve conflicts using an independent third party. Let's say you have a disagreement with someone else. It could be a neighbor, a business partner, or another company. You try to work it out, but it's not going well. Maybe communication has broken down into name-calling, or maybe you're not sure that you're making a good deal.
An independent mediator is someone who listens to all sides, guides a discussion, helps the parties identify issues of agreement and disagreement, and can even assist in drafting a binding agreement. Oftentimes, having another set of eyes involved in a dispute can change the dynamic, save time, and help the parties find a way to a resolution.
